ABSTRACT. The paper has performed comparative analysis of “input differential” and “output differential” hydrostatic mechanical transmissions (HMTs) by means of integrated study of changes in power parameters, kinematic parameters, and energy parameters of the transmissions in terms of traction and transport ranges of motion of a mine diesel locomotive.  Values of basic parameters of the transmissions have been obtained by means of a system of algebraic equations solution developed during the activities. Peculiarity of the considered static model is as follows: the calculations involve two values of angular velocities of shafts of hydraulic machines as well as working pressure difference (i.e. current pressure and previous one) within HMT. That makes it possible to determine all kinematic parameters, power parameters, and energy parameters of transmission rather accurately.  Each parameter is identified until a value of the parameter being under analysis at the previous iteration is equal to the current value.  The obtained results indicate that each transmission has its own strengths and weaknesses.  That is why the both HMTs will be used in future while analyzing a braking process of a mine diesel locomotive.
